What does it mean when you receive an overdraft charge but the bank refunds it back?

   I would guess yes…but it might be a computer glich and they will see it later and charge you again.

   Yes, it appears you have handled you account well over the years and they forgave the overdraft fee.

   You are the first person on here to make me chuckle at knowing you were a dumb %$# and admitting it was your responsibility not the big nasty bank!

   They will usually do this as a courtesy to their customers. Especially ones who do not habitually bounce checks or overdraw their accounts. You usually have to call them though and ask them to remove it.
