Dave asked:
My apartment lease has ended recently. My original roommate and I were the only people on the lease. My roommate and I both left the apartment in december to pursue interests in other cities. My roommate invited a friend, Dan, to live in the apartment while he was not there. This was unofficial, and unknown to the office. The person that moved in apparently invited another person, Steve, to live in the apartment. Eventually Dan moved out and left the apartment to Steve. Come to find out, Steve invited many others to stay in the apartment. When the lease ended, the office said that Steve along with about 6 others were still in the apartment. Police were called in order to get them to leave the apartment. I have now found out that before they left they demolished doors, threw paint all over the carpet, grafittied the walls, counters, appliances and fixtures. I am trying to decide my best course of action to reclaim the few thousand dollars this will end up costing me.

1For letting these dirt bags move in your friend dan that is mostly at fault for damages.
For damages you can also sue your place.
