Someone stole debit card and valuables, can I find the person?

last night I went to play soccer and when I changed to my sportsweat I put my regular clothes in the car and LOCKED the car. I had a zune, a wallet which had 130 bucks, it had my license, college ID, my passport ID card (the thing I want back the most, the money too) and the keys from the other car of my dad (I still havent told him) and we don’t have a spare key for the other car. I was paranoid last night the thief was going to come to my house because my drivers license has my address and he was going to come and steal the car. I called the bank last night and reported the card stolen and they said there were 3 transaction, 2 in target which were about 400 bucks each and 1 in Ralph’s which the transaction was declined and they told me they were going to cancel it and reverse the charges but to call department of reclaims today cause it was closed last night to tell them what was happening so they could start an investigation. I called them and they told me they did not see any activity that had gone through. The thing that I want to know is how can I find the places, the locations in where he did this transactions so i can check him on video so i can find the ***** and get my stuff back and maybe add some *** whoopping. Im from San Diego and I think the fu**er lives somewhere in linda vista or close to the 8 freeway.
